The house of Dior has paid millions for celebrity brand endorsements over the years.

Christian Dior founded French fashion brand Dior in 1946 and a year later made his runway debut with ready-to-wear haute couture looks from his collection. The brand became an instant hit with its bodycon designs which brought a new wave of fashion to the industry. Several creative directors took over the fashion house and brought new concepts thanks to their know-how. When the brand went global in the 1980s under Marc Bohan and Gianfranco Ferré, it began endorsing celebrities to represent the fashion house. Isabelle Adjani was one of the first influential figures to represent the brand in its print advertisements and campaigns and brought Dior to a global audience.

8 Anya Taylor-Joy ($1 million)

2021 has been a standout year for Anya Taylor-Joy as she won multiple awards for her performance in The Queen’s Gambit and turned heads on the red carpet. The actress was seen in favor of Dior, and in October 2021, she was announced a global fashion and makeup ambassador, as noted by Harper’s Bazaar. Although his contract details have yet to be released, Taylor-Joy is expected to earn more than $1 million per year for his contract.

7 Cara Delevingne ($1.5 million)

Beauty ambassador for Dior, Cara Delevingne became the face of Dior Joaillerie jewelry line by Dior in 2019. Her long-standing partnership also includes being the face of Dior Beauty. She launched several campaigns and products under the brand, including a Dior Lip Glow and an anti-aging skincare line called Capture Youth. The actress is said to be paid $1.5 million a year for her partnership.

6 Marion Cotillard ($1.5 million)

Elegantly ethereal, Marion Cotillard became the face of Lady Dior bags in 2008. Her relationship with the French fashion house was stable until the partnership ended in 2017. As well as starring in print advertisements for Dior, she has been captured by exclusive photographers like Annie Leibovitz and Peter Lindbergh. According to Elle, Cotillard was paid $1.5 million per short film for Lady Dior. His most notable short films are LAdy Dior, Lady Rouge, Lady Blue and Lady Noire.

5 Emma Raducanu ($2.75 million)

One of the youngest faces representing Dior, tennis sensation Emma Raducanu was just 18 when she signed a multi-year contract and became the face of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s womenswear collection and the face of the brand’s skincare and makeup range. Per the contract, Raducanu is paid $2.75 million for starring in print advertising and commercials for Dior.

4 Johnny Depp ($5 million)

Johnny Depp entered the fashion realm when he became the face of Dior in 2015. The fashion label introduced a new men’s fragrance after a decade that year with Dior Sauvage and chose the ruggedly handsome actor for its advertising campaigns and print advertisements. As mentioned by The Guardian, Depp is paid over $5 million for brand endorsement and has been actively seen in advertisements even today. Sales soared after the actor became the face of the new fragrance line.

3 Robert Pattinson ($12 million)

Robert Pattinson replaced Jude Law in 2013 as the new face of Dior Homme fragrances. Embodying the bold yet irresistible personality, Pattinson’s campaign shorts have been among the fashion house’s most popular advertisements. The actor was paid $12 million for a three-year contract. In 2016, he also became the ambassador for Dior Prêt-à-porter creations and was photographed by legendary figure Karl Lagerfeld. In 2021, he returns for the Dior Homme campaign with a short film called I’m Your Man.

2 Jennifer Lawrence ($15 million)

Jennifer Lawrence brought a new wave of energy when she signed a deal with Dior in 2014. The three-year, $15 million deal brought her $5 million a year, and she became a global ambassador and the face of beauty and accessories campaigns. She succeeds Marion Cotillard for Lady Dior bags and announces the Joy de Dior perfume and make-up line. Her contract also required the actress to exclusively wear dresses from the fashion house for any red carpet event.

1 Charlize Theron ($55 million)

The most expensive brand endorsement deal Dior has ever featured, Charlize Theron signed an eleven-year long-term deal worth $55 million, in which she was paid $5 million per year, as reported by Scmp. She became the face of J’adore Dior perfume after her performance in the 2003 film Monster. Theron has starred in several campaigns for the perfume and still advertises for the brand, and wears couture outfits by Dior on the Red carpet.

Other notable celebrities who are the face of Dior include Natalie Portman, Elizabeth Debicki, Blackpink’s Jisoo and Yara Shahidi. Under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior evolved its elegant style and exerted a strong influence on the public.
