Watch industry veteran, devoted father, husband, friend and mentor to countless people, Steven Kaiser, died suddenly on May 20. He was 68 years old.
Mr. Kaiser’s illustrious career spans decades. He worked with luxury Swiss watch brand, Baume & Mercier, for over 16 years, serving as President and CEO during his tenure.
In 2000, after two years as an executive shareholder of Benedom Inc., he sold his stake to LVMH and launched Kaiser Time Inc., a consulting, business development, executive search and mergers and acquisitions firm. full-service service that drew on Mr. Kaiser’s experience. extensive experience and expertise in the Swiss watch market. Kaiser Time has quickly established a reputation for its ability to guide brands, retailers and industry organizations through the nuances of the Swiss watch industry, enabling them to achieve their goals and achieve their most high market potential. Kaiser Time has partnered with dozens of companies over the years and was considered a go-to organization for anyone looking to indulge in the luxury watch market.
In 2005, with the help and assistance of his longtime associate, Diane James, Mr. Kaiser launched Luxury Swiss Watch by JCK, creating a platform for esteemed watch brands to exhibit in the United States. After a decade of success, Mr. Kaiser and James joined The COUTURE Show as consultants, where they helped to help the organization grow its list of exhibiting luxury watch brands. In 2021, Mr. Kaiser and James joined Kennedy Luxury Group, an established and well-regarded watch and jewelry retailer in Australia with 14 locations, where Mr. Kaiser accepted the positions of CEO and US Chairman.
Mr. Kaiser’s commitment to the fine jewelry and watch industry was inexhaustible. He has served on the board of countless organizations during his career, including Jewelers for Children (JFC), Jewelry Information Center (JIC), Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) and Jewelers Security Alliance (JSA), where he has served as president since 2019. In March of this year, he received the Stanley Schechter Lifetime Achievement Award from JVC, and in 2007 he received the Ben Kaiser Award from the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA), an honor that bears the name of Mr. Kaiser’s father.
Steven was married to Vivian Kaiser for 39 years and they raised two children, Jeff and Emily. He was also known as the proud father of his pet turtle, Mikey. He was an avid New York Giants fan and when he couldn’t attend their games in person, he was a regular at Blondie’s Sports Bar on the Upper West Side, where he had his own stool.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 W. 76and Street, New York, NY 10023. Interment will be at Sharon Gardens in Valhalla, NY at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, and shiva will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 545 West End Avenue, Apartment 12A in New York City.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Steven’s name to Jewelers for Children, an organization dear to Mr. Kaiser’s heart.
